The PTSA of River Hill High School (RHHS) is run by a group of dedicated volunteers. We are currently seeking individuals who are interested in volunteering for the 2025-2026 academic year. See below for the open positions and the role responsibilities.

Program Time Frame Responsibilities
Post Prom Party (P3) Co-Chair September - May Coordinate with the event venue on food, entertainment, and security, work with each of the P3 committee chairs to ensure all aspects of the event are on track coordinate ticket sales, recruit additional volunteers as needed, and manage the event the night of. This is a really fun event and a great way to get involved. 
Post Prom Party Committee Member October - April Serve on committees such as decorating, prizes, food, entertainment, fundraising, security or promotion
HillFest Chair and Committee Chairs October - April Work with school staff and club sponsors to organize and schedule student clubs to participate, work with the PTSA communications coordinator to advertise the event, and ensure the school community is well informed about HillFest
Parent Education Programs Coordinator August - May Coordinate with other HoCo PTSAs to provide workshops to our members and other HoCo high school parents; as this is a shared effort with other schools we provide 1-2 speakers per year; sessions are held virtually

 

Position DescriptionS

HillFest Chair and Committee Leads - HillFest is a student showcase gathering, which has traditionally been held in the spring. HillFest 2026 is scheduled for April 8th. It’s an opportunity for students to share the work and skills of their clubs and activities for other students as well as parents.  HillFest is a celebration of what makes River Hill High School such a great school and place!  The Hill Fest coordinator and volunteers will help to pull this event together, interfacing with the school staff in communicating this event, scheduling the space and date in/on which it will be held, working with the PTSA communications coordinator in advertising this event, and making sure the school community is well informed about this gathering.

 

Post Prom Party Co-Chair and Volunteers – The Post Prom Party (P3) is a safe and fun event for River Hill High School juniors and seniors and their Prom dates to continue their celebration after Prom. It will be held on April 24, 2026. Responsibilities include: confirming our venue booking, working with the venue to ensure proper food, entertainment, and security is confirmed, working with the PTSA communications chair to advertise and market the event, coordinating ticket sales, recruiting additional volunteers as needed, and staying apprised of the event the night of, among other responsibilities. Chairs are needed to support specific aspects of this event.

 

Parent Education Coordinator – The Parent Ed Coordinator works to provide parent education workshops to our membership and to high school parents at large in Howard County. Currently, we work with the other high school PTSAs in Howard County to provide webinar-based parent ed programs; the group is called CPPEG for Collaborative PTSA Parent Ed Program. Programs can be offered on a range of topics including, but not limited to: teen driver safety, healthy dating, healthy screen time habits, ways parents can support their teens social and emotional growth and well-being, drug use and abuse, suicide prevention, college prep and more.
