Last year I introduced my classes to ebooks. Some students expressed an interest in downloading ebooks (there are free sites) from the internet onto their iPAQs or their home computers. Here is the information for doing either: There are many sites that allow you to download ebooks for free. You may wish to try the following site: http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/ebooks/ Desktop ebooks - You need to run Windows 98 or higher to read an ebook on your desktop computer:http://www.microsoft.com/reader/download.asp Download the msreadersetup.exe. It will appear in your Programs file and you'll need to run the exe. I took the free version and did not activate an account because I don't plan on purchasing any ebooks. That's an option for you. It works either way. After you have this software on your pc, you can go to an ebook site and easily download an ebook IPAQ downloads of ebooks :http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/ebooks/) to my iPAQ over the Wireless LAN and they download quite quickly. To do that, take the iPAQ out of the cradle and put the network card in. Go to the site on the internet that has the ebook you want to download. I go to the link that's on the Mindsurf Web Guide under English and Language Arts - it has the UVa library link (see above) and choose the book to download as an ebook. It immediately goes into your Library. Creating your own ebooks :
