Bio Poems - 10/1 (students were assigned specific people from
this list)
1st period - all students
are required, within one week of receiving their exam grade, of coming
to my classroom to review their tests. Students may come before
school, after school, or during lunch. Students must make an appt
with me. This will be considered a test grade. After one
week, students will not have an opportunity to make this work up.
The students will be required to write down why they got each questions
wrong - was it due to not studying the material, misreading the
question...
2nd period - any student
receiving an exam grade of "C" or lower, is required to come to my
classroom to review his/her exam. Students may come before school,
after school, or during lunch. Students must make an appt with me.
This will be considered a test grade. After one week, students
will not have an opportunity to make this work up. The students will be
required to write down why they got each questions wrong - was it due to
not studying the material, misreading the question...
The syllabi for both classes will be changed prior to 2nd semester as
I'll be adding a textbook. The new syllabi will be posted on this
website.

The following website has notecards (by unit)
that students may wish to use for unit exams, or for studying for the
APUSH exam: http://www.apstudent.com/ushistory/cards.php
-
Link to APUSH Vocabulary Terms - a good place to start -

-
interactive
chart of presidential elections and political parties
-
There is a website that another APUSH teacher created that has numerous links that we may use as the year progresses.
Beyond these general links, at the bottom of the page there are links to
outlines for every chapter of The American Pageant.
Students may wish to print these out. One advantage is that
students can write notes on the outlines (they can't write in the
books): link
to chapter outlines
-
Students were given a copy of the publisher's study guides for chapters
1-3 (they will receive a packet for each chapter). These packets
are for the students' use only. On the whole, the packets go into
more detail than I will expect students to know. Click on "Quizzes/Exams"
on the menu on the left to see the answers to the questions in the
packets.

The publisher (Houghton Mifflin) of your textbook
American Pageant,
by Bailey and Kennedy (12th edition), has a website for
students to use to assist in studying from this text:

Another link that you may find
useful: http://www.apstudent.com/ushistory/cards.php This is a list of
all terms you would ever need to know for APUSH. I will not be
testing you on all of these terms, but you may find it a useful link.

Houghton Mifflin (McDougall Littell)
published a book called "Fast Track to a Five for AP U.S. History"
that is an AP Review book which was written to cover the same material
as the chapters of your text, The American Pageant. Some of my
students found this review book to be extremely helpful, while others
were not as positive. I have one copy of the book in my room, that
students may want to look at. If they choose to order it (approx.
$21 including shipping), they can order directly from the publisher:
www.mcdougallittell.com.
(The publisher will not give a discount for large orders.)
