The River Hill team beat a previously undefeated St. Mary's Ryken team 6-5 Saturday
in the 1st round of the James Griffin Tournament.
After falling behind 1-0 the young hawks scored the next 4 goals to take a 4-1 halftime lead. Abe Dyer with two goals & Scott Kenworthy with two goals and one assist gave them the lead. Additional goals by Brian Fabel and Justin Clark staked the team to a 6-3 lead early in the fourth quarter. St. Mary's scored the last two goals to make the final minutes interesting. The defense with Will Melton in goal and Charles Whitaker, Duncan Brooks, and Jason Fawcett was superb. Both the 1st and 2nd midfields played very well and the attack scored just enough to win. This was clearly the best game played by any River Hill boys lacrosse team and gives this team a 3-1 record. |
