Snack Shack Procedures

THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!

SNACK SHACK is a service provided by the Boosters to offer our students a healthy and nutritious snack after school, before sport practices.  The prices are set to make this very affordable. Our menu is limited to items like low-calorie cracker and cookie packs, granola bars, power bars, Luna bars, baked chips, fresh fruit, water, and Gatorade.  We do not sell candy during Snack Shack.  This offering is still evolving and we welcome ideas.

Volunteers are needed to help with the daily Snack Shack.

Time Commitment is about 1 hour.  Two volunteers are needed each day.

Arrive by 1:50pm (to ensure you don’t get blocked out by buses).  Snack Shack closes at 2:45pm.

We try to schedule folks only 2 times per month, so we need lots of folks.

If you or any of the parents on your sport team can help, please contact Bonnie Brunett at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Please write “snack shack” in the subject line.  Include your name, cell phone number, and any day or date preferences.

PROCEDURE:

·         Two volunteers arrive daily by 1:50pm to the Indoor Concession Stand.

·         One volunteer is to stop by the Front Office to pick up keys to Indoor Concession Stand.

·         Ticket Kiosk is to stay inside the concession stand – please work around it.

SET UP SNACK SHACK:

 ·         Wipe down all surfaces with cleaner and paper towels.

 ·         Wash newly-arrived fresh apples and/or fruit (they will be in a paper or cardboard box), the cleaned fruit will be plastic container marked “clean fruit”

 ·         Items to be sold are stored and grouped in the plastic bins.  Open the bins to start filling baskets.

 ·         Put out basket filled with snacks (like 100 calorie packs or cheese/crackers) and place on the left side of service counter.

·         Set out display of chips/snacks, put as many on display as possible and put on the left side of counter.

·         Put out flat fruit basket in the center of the counter.

·         Put out basket of power bars on the right side of the fruit.

·         These groupings are by price, which makes it easier for the students to make quick selections.

·         Count the cash box, making note of any discrepancies.

·         Snack Shack prices will be on a sign.  Most snack items are a $0.50, but the power bars are $1.50.  Water is $1, Gatorade is $2.

·         Open the service window.

·         Check the beverage refrigerator and make sure it’s fully stocked.  Surplus stock is on the floor.  Put new beverage items (warm) to the back of the fridge.

CLOSING:

·         Close the window.

·         Restock baskets and put everything away in bins without squashing any items.

·         Make sure lids are SECURED (otherwise we have critters!)

·         Washed fruit can stay in basket and put in refrigerator.

·         Unwashed fruit can stay in box on back countertop.

·         If you notice that our fruit inventory is low, please send a TEXT MESSAGE Bonnie’s cell (410-707-3191) with remaining inventory.  [We call our produce supplier by 4pm to give us inventory for the next day.]

·         Place trash by the lobby trash can (outside of concessions).  Break down recyclable cardboard and put in lobby recycle bin.

·         Count the cash box and restore the drawer to the original amount.

·         Put profit in envelope; write your name, date and amount on the outside.  Envelope stays in the cash box.

·         Lock up concession door.  Return keys to front office.

·         NOTE:  if team parents arrive to set up regular concessions while you are still there, please close out your cash box and return keys to front office.

The pages are designed by students, teachers, parents, and friend volunteers. This site fosters a learning environment and encourages individual creativity.
