Hawks edged by Glenelg 6-4

River Hill lost a close away game to Glenelg on April 16. Plagued again in the early innings by runs given up and quiet bats, the Hawks could never quite catch up. Glenelg got two runs in the bottom of the first on only 1 hit. In the third, two singles followed by a double resulted in two more runs. The Gladiators picked up one more in the fourth and sixth innings. Kevin Marrie worked 3 innings, giving up 5 hits and striking out 4. Steve Cornelius pitched 3 innings, yielding only 3 hits, while racking up 2 Ks.

The Hawks scored on in the second inning when Wes McCoy hit a lead-off single, stole second, and scored on a Steve Cornelius single. River Hill crossed the plate 3 more times in the fifth when Cornelius reached first on an error, followed by a Dave Marquart single. Jeff Marquart drove them in with a double to the gap in right center. A base on balk to Ben Trapuzzano and a single by Dan Konapelsky moved Jeff to third, and a ground ball by Brian Heinz scored Jeff. The Hawks stranded 7 base runners in this game.
